A smooth and fulfilling life

On the evening of April 6, 2021, a retirement celebration banquet for Liu Xin, the financial director of Nanhuaxi Group, was grandly held at Xiangmeixuan of World Window. During the banquet speech, Mr. Liu recounted one after another unforgettable moments he had experienced in the company over the past 14 years. He was moved several times during the speech and deeply thanked the members of the Nanhuaxi family for their support and companionship. He also expressed his reluctance to leave the position he had worked hard for and was proud of. 

Looking back on half a life, as Mr. Liu himself put it, both his life experiences and work experiences were very smooth and there were not many ups and downs. 

In 1990, Mr. Liu graduated from the Electrical Automation Department of Central South University. After that, he stayed in Changsha and joined the Changsha High Voltage Switch Factory (now Changgang Group), where he was engaged in the design of secondary wiring diagrams. 

In May 1994, Liu got married and moved to Shenzhen with her husband to start a new life. She joined the Yonghe Group and worked as a receptionist at Chugongmiao for one year. In 1995, she was transferred back to the headquarters of the Science and Technology Park and took on the position of cashier. This marked the beginning of her career in finance. Subsequently, Liu held various positions at Yonghe Group, including cost accountant, sales accountant, general ledger accountant, and financial deputy manager. In early 2004, she left Yonghe due to the birth of her second child and focused her efforts on her children and family. In the following years, Liu attended classes intermittently, but the durations were very short. 

In October 2007, Mr. Liu joined Nanhuaxi and was appointed as the supervisor of accounting. In 2009, he was promoted to the position of financial manager. In 2010, the position of the company's financial director became vacant, and Mr. Liu was promoted to the position of deputy financial director. Six months later, he officially took up the position of financial director of Nanhuaxi Group. 

Before coming to Nanhuaxi, Mr. Liu had no management experience. Although he had reached the position of deputy financial manager at the highest level, his main tasks were still routine ones such as bookkeeping. After arriving at Nanhuaxi, Mr. Liu began to engage in management work and within two or three years, he ascended to a senior management position in the company, handling affairs independently and growing very rapidly. 

Mr. Liu said, 'Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. Even though I don't have much management experience yet, you have entrusted me with such a significant management responsibility, allowing me to grow rapidly through practical work.' 

According to Mr. Liu's own summary, his growth mainly manifests in three aspects. Firstly, the growth of professional knowledge and management skills; secondly, the growth of communication and coping abilities with the outside world; thirdly, the growth of personal inner qualities and self-confidence, including a significant improvement in personal image, which has changed from being rustic to becoming intellectual and fashionable. 

It is said that the people of Hunan have a bold and fiery personality, and are rather extroverted. However, Mr. Liu is actually a very reserved person. He is meticulous and rigorous in his work, yet still maintains a broad perspective. Under Mr. Liu's leadership, the company's financial system has been fully standardized, all work has been carried out in an orderly manner, and young generation of outstanding financial personnel such as Wu Xiqian and Chen Fangyu have been cultivated. At the same time, Mr. Liu has also become the person with the longest tenure and the greatest personal contribution among all the former financial directors of the company. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Nanhua West in 2020, Mr. Liu was awarded the honor of '25 People of Nanhua West 25 Years' by the company for 'making significant and remarkable contributions to the improvement and development of the company's financial systems, and enhancing the company's risk prevention capabilities and financial internal control capabilities'. 

In 2020, after reaching the legal retirement age, Mr. Liu remained in his position for one more year. He officially retired from the company in April 2021. After retirement, Mr. Liu will continue to serve as the company's financial advisor, offering suggestions and making contributions to the company's future development. 

Mr. Liu has two daughters. His eldest daughter has returned from studying in the US and has joined Huawei. His youngest daughter is in her senior year of high school and will take the college entrance examination in 2022. Regarding his plans for life after retirement, Mr. Liu said that he won't be able to travel for the next one or two years. Firstly, he is still holding a position as a financial advisor and needs to come to the company from time to time to assist the new financial manager in handling some matters. Secondly, his youngest daughter still needs his care at home. 

But Mr. Liu wasn't idle either. Besides practicing his favorite calligraphy in his spare time, Mr. Liu also plans to enroll in an adult university. When his younger daughter goes to university and his husband is about to retire from his job, Mr. Liu also intends to go to Guizhou to teach as part of his retirement plan, starting a brand new chapter of his life. 

Postscript: There is no smooth path in the world; only those who walk seriously can achieve it. Through Mr. Liu's calm and gentle narration, we see a life that is so smooth and enviable. However, behind this smoothness lies Mr. Liu's down-to-earth persistence and all-out efforts. From obtaining a degree from Central South University, to transitioning to finance, and then taking on a senior management position in just over two years despite having no management experience, which achievement could have been achieved so easily? The so-called smoothness is merely the result of efforts, filling in each obstacle on the path of life.
